IT'S A COLORFUL LIFE

Good morning , I hope this post finds you well and warm . Its a chilly one here in Ohio this morning , we dipped down into the teens overnight , however we did finally get to see our first "real"  snow flurries of the season , even though they didn't stick !
So, as Promised I'm back with a "health" update for Everyone ...I would LOVE to tell you that I am healed and healthy , but Alas no luck ! Right now I have a multitude of major issues occurring ...the biggest being that my pain levels are completely out of control and I have developed new "issues" with my back /left leg ! Throughout 2015 I underwent many "injections" in my back /hip trying to help alleviate some of my sciatic pain as well as remove some of the scar tissue that quite possibly may have been causing it . The procedures however at the time, seemed to do more harm then good as they landed me in bed for at least a week each and every time they worked on me, and appeared to provide little to no relief from the constant tingling , numbness and weakness down my left leg  . Well approximately 2-3 months ago , I started having EXCRUCIATING pain in my backside especially my tail bone and O MY GOODNESS EXTREME burning ,cramping pain down the back of my left leg, I deal with pain every day and can work through and  tolerate a lot , but this is the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life and brings me to tears most days .I cannot sit , standing and walking are painful and very limited , the only way I can get any relief is to take my meds every 4 hours and lay in bed on my right side.  I go see  my pain management Dr. who informs me that at the present time there is NOTHING else he can do for me , so he sent me to see an orthopedic surgeon in regards to my hip pain , after several tests he said he felt my issues were "back related " . So , then I was sent to a new neurosurgeon Dec. 30 who has diagnosed me with Post Laminectomy Syndrome ...which means neither of my spine surgeries worked and he has ordered labwork , and new mri's of my back  which I am currently waiting for insurance approval and scheduling  and advises me that "sometimes in medicine though trying to help we make things worse" :(.  So until I get some answers, Im in bed the majority of the day  except for fixing meals, very short attempts at light housework , and walking Princess to and from the school bus stop and all of these things require resting /lying down in between . Not so much fun .
I have fought a long , hard fight , and my body is exhausted and after continually hearing that  there is nothing anyone can do for me , unless I want to take mass amounts of medications and lie in bed all day and drool on myself , which as a single parent is NOT an option and coming to the realizations thatI cannot give up even if these Dr.'s just CAN NOT fix me so instead..I have finally made the decision  and  filed an application for disability !
Due to my current pain status I cannot even sew, sculpt clay , nothing !!! Though I hope in the future on my good days to still create from time to time , for the purpose of swaps or gift giving . Right now  am just going absolutely stir crazy , I've never been a "lay around" and stare at the walls kinda gal !
So,  Upon recommendation from friends , and pain management I have been trying my hand at the new fad of "adult coloring ", apparently it is supposed to be very therapeutic and relaxing and is to help aid in pain management .Thus far I have just colored my pages I haven't dabbled in shading and fanciness yet , and to be quite honest I'm struggling to even do this because I find it difficult to  color lying down as both my arms and hands then go numb and tingly :( , I also have trouble at times focusing on the image and get agitated.  But on good days , I color with the Princess each time I get out of bed for short periods of time , so it has become a way for us to spend quality time together .
So , have any of you tried the new coloring fad? If so I'd love to hear your tips and tricks !
Leaving you with a few pics of my new  " colorful therapy " and until we meet again ...Ill always be...just a lil raggedy !

  1. Hi Angie, it just breaks my heart thinking of the horrible pain that you are having. I know how heart breaking it was when my daughter had that painful neuropathy. I will continue to lift you up in my prayers, for the Dr to have wisdom on what to do, and that you will be able to live a pain free life. Your coloring is beautiful!!! Hugs and prayers sweet friend. 2. Omgosh Angie - here I am,complaining about a broken toe and how hard it is to put my shoes on, and you have such excruciating 'real' pain. I'm so sorry you are going through this and will keep you in my prayers.
Your coloring is beautiful! On Face Book a crafter from Canada got some coloring books for Christmas and she was so excited. I had no idea how therapeutic coloring could be.

  4. Even with all your pain and suffering, you still are such an incredible and involved Mom. Coloring is so fun. I bought coloring books for some of my family this year for Christmas as well!

  5. Glad to see you are back to blogging Angie, but hope you are able to get on disability. Was hoping you would be better. Bob and I were driving through Ohio yesterday on our way back home from vacation and drove through several snow squalls...then came home to 2 inches of the white stuff and 10 degree weather. YUCK..back to reality for us. Janice

  8. I know well how bad the year was for you...and you know I continue to pray and hope things turn around....somehow. But I am glad that you filed for disability.... I agree, your coloring (with Princess's assistance, of course) is gorgeous. I could never, somehow, stay in the lines. ;o) Cold in Nod too...another storm on the way...every bone in this ol' crow's body is screeching.... Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
